In 1983, Mr. Hughes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. He received a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1986 and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the US District Court Bar in 1989. Mr. Hughes graduated from the Joseph Halpern/David Furman Inns of Court in 1999 and is now a mentor in this organization which teaches young lawyers trial advocacy and attorney ethics. He currently serves as the Program Director of the Inn which requires the development of fact patterns and exercises for mock trials conducted by pupils. Mr. Hughes is an active member of the Middlesex County Bar Association, the New Brunswick Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Current areas of practice include appellate advocacy, personal injury, workers' compensation, commercial litigation, wills and estates, Social Security and municipal court practice. Mr. Hughes has served as a Public Defender in the Township of Woodbridge. He is a founding member and President of the West Long Branch Coalition of Neighbors which is a citizens' action group committed to ensuring the quality of life in the community. Mr. Hughes resides in West Long Branch with his wife Pamela.
